Teacher Insists On Talking To Mom, Parent Brings Wife's Ashes

It's pretty common for involved dads to not be treated with the respect they deserve for taking care of their kids, to the point that they get called "babysitters" rather than full-on parents. It's not fair in the slightest, and in one Reddit user's case, it's enraging since the childrens' mother is deceased. u/SandorYarpClegane wrote in the popular community for subverting demands, r/MaliciousCompliance, that once his daughter's teacher called home asking to speak with his wife — affectionately referred to as Mrs. Yarp — and hung up when he tried to explain she can talk to him instead.

This user said this kind of phone call happened multiple times in one week and then the family received a specific request for Mrs. Yarp to attend a parent-teacher conference. Fed up, the original poster decided to realize the term "malicious compliance" to its full potential: he brought along his wife's death certificate and urn and presented those to the teacher in question in front of several faculty members.

It's hard to imagine witnessing such an uncomfortable moment happen in real life. The worst part? The teacher wanted to tell her student's family that she wanted to move the daughter to an advanced math class. Good news — but her crucial mistake was thinking it was for mom's ears only.

    Font - I think not too much of it and continue my day. A few days later I get essentially the same call, teacher refuses to speak to me and will only speak to Mrs. Yarp. About a week later my kid brings home a letter from the teacher saying they need to speak to Mrs. Yarp, and here is an appointment for her to show up to on x date and x time.

    Font - I get pissed... This happens a lot, Dr. offices, various appointments have a hard time wrapping their head around a single male parent. Many times I got "Oh well usually the mom bring them" or "Usually mom takes care of this". Those lines always pissed me off to no end and I would always make them eat their words by saying “Well mom can't do this since she died -insert years- ago".     Font - I am beyond pissed that this teacher refuses to talk to me and only wants mom... So the day of the meeting I get the papers she requested, get dressed up, grab a copy of my wife's death certificate and the icing on the cake, my wife's urn.     Font - What was it for? What did she need to tell my wife so bad she refused to speak to me??? My daughter was doing fantastic in math and she wanted to put her in advanced math After that I filed a complaint with the principal... The next school year teacher wasn't at the school, idk if she moved or was fired or what but that's my MC.
